XANTHE PALMER
xanthe palmer
presenter & journalist
Hello, here's a bit about me...
Hi! I'm Xanthe, I'm an award-winning journalist and presenter from Sheffield. I absolutely love what I do and am happiest when I'm sharing people's stories (some might say this is cheesy, but it's true). I've worked as a reporter and podcast / radio producer for many years for the likes of BBC Local Radio, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Asian Network. Alongside presenting, I'm a teacher at Waterbear College of Music in Sheffield, event host and writer.
PRESENTING
I’m a regular cover presenter for BBC Radio Sheffield’s Breakfast Show, as well as the regional breakfast show across BBC Local Radio in Yorkshire. I also present on BBC Upload, a programme dedicated to showcasing creative talent, from writing and poetry to music and beyond. Alongside this, I occasionally present the Northern Soul show and the African and Caribbean Community Show. I’ve also worked in TV, appearing on BBC Look North and have recorded voiceovers for Morning Live.
HOSTING & DJ’ING
Alongside my broadcast work, I also love hosting live events, from Utopia Theatre’s open mic nights to awards ceremonies for organisations like the NHS and Sheffield Hallam University. Whether I’m on stage or behind the mic, it’s all about creating a great atmosphere and making people feel part of it. From producing The Official Chart: First Look on BBC Radio 1 to DJing at Tramlines Festival and Day Fever UK, music runs through everything I do! And if it’s dance or funky house, I’m 100% in my element.
